A Little About Me

I have been teaching science at Maine East for more than 25 years. In that time, I have taught a variety of classes including Advanced Placement Biology, Biology Accelerated, Biology 1, Biology Academy, Biology Transitional, Chemistry 2, Chemistry 1, Physics 1, and Science Explorations. In addition to teaching science, I am also the Gifted Coordinator overseeing the Gifted Lyceum here at Maine East. I am happy to be teaching AP Biology and am looking forward to working with you this year.

I can be reached through e-mail at: judtyler @maine207.org or by phone during the day at (847) 692-8271. My office is in room 207.

Course Overview

Be prepared to work hard, but we will have fun doing it together. I have high expectations for my students and expect all homework to be completed on a daily basis. Most of the homework will consist of readings which are vital to your success. Remember, this is a college class and one which you may receive substantial college credit if you receive an appropriate score on the AP exam. It is my job to prepare you and it is your job to follow through with the tasks I assign you.

The course is taught through a discussion format with a heavy emphasis on laboratory analysis and critical thinking. You will be in lab at least 30% of the time. Formal lab write ups are a major component of your grade and will be expected about every two weeks or so.
